This hojicha is made using tea leaves grown organically by a family with generations of tea-growing heritage, cultivated in tea fields nurtured by the clear air and pure streams of Wazuka, Kyoto.

Compared to standard hojicha, the tea leaves are roasted to a deeper level, then finely ground into a powder while preserving that robust roast profile.

By stopping the roasting process just before bitterness develops, the result is a bold, punchy flavour with no harsh bitterness. It is especially recommended for those who enjoy coffee-like roasted notes.

While matcha powder is widely known, hojicha powder is still relatively rare. Prepare it in the same way as matcha, whisking with a bamboo whisk. We particularly recommend enjoying it as a hojicha latte.
